About the Artist

Chuck Cassell is a licensed architect who has also developed his skills as an artist.  Following a career of 35 years as a partner at Burnidge, Cassell Associates, Architects, he is now focusing on  watercolor painting and pencil portraits.  His artwork has been shown in the following galleries and exhibitions:

  • Norris Gallery, St. Charles, IL
  • The Campbell House, Geneva, IL
  • Dunham Gallery at Aurora University, Aurora, IL
  • The Artist's Cove, Elgin, IL
  • Prairie Center for the Arts, Schaumburg, IL
  • AAUW Art Showcase, Elgin, IL
  • Olde Courthouse Gallery, Yorkville, IL
  • Downtown Fine Arts Show, St. Charles, IL
  • Friendship Village, Schaumburg, IL
  • Hemmens Auditorium, Elgin, IL

Chuck's paintings are done from photographs he has taken primarily while traveling with his wife, Penny.  He has a special interest in old barns and historically significant buildings due to his architectural background.  His interest in pencil portraits resulted from his desire to record the images of their grandchildren.

Chuck supports many local not-for-profit organizations through the donation of his paintings and drawings which are then sold at fund raising events. He is also a member of the following artists' organizations:

  • Artist Member, Fox Valley Arts Council
  • Associate Member, National Watercolor Society
  • Associate Mamber, American Watercolor Society
  • Associate Member, Illinois Watercolor Society
  • Associate Member, Transparent Watercolor Society
